Located 50 miles away from Bend, Richardson’s Rock Ranch have been known among rock lovers since 1975. This family-owned business is a working cattle ranch, but it is the best known for its several thunderegg beds.
Worldwide famous gorgeous thundereggs from the extensive deposits of the ranch feature variations of sizes, colors, mineral growths and inclusions. The highly-prized Priday Plume agates and thundereggs are noted for its transparent matrix and beautiful inclusions such as moss and plumes in brilliant red, yellow, or green tones. Most of the eggs has agate cores with banding or waterlines of various colors. There are beds producing jasper and opal thundereggs. Also, geodes with hollow centers lined with crystals can be found.

Currently, the ranch doesn't offer a public digging but freshly dug thundereggs from Priday Moss, Pony Butte, Opal, and other beds are available for purchase. The rock shop and show room have an exceptional selection of geological treasures from Oregon and all over the world. Rockhound hobbyists will find rough and polished rocks, fossils, petrified wood, jewelry, and other products made from semi-precious stones.

Famous Priday Polka Dot Agate Mine is located 14 miles away of the ranch. The mine is known for its agates with unique polka-dot pattern of contrasting colors and large thunder eggs.

Venture 37 miles south of the ranch, and you'll discover, Smith Rock State Park, a natural wonder in the heart of the Oregon high desert.
